"Am Anfang aller Kunst steht für mich die Linie. Im herkömmlichen Sinn verstehen wir unter diesem Begriff in der Regel einen geraden Strich, der zwei Punkte verbindet.Für mich ist eine Linie aber nicht bloss eine Linie. Auf der Leinwand kann sie sich bisweilen sowohl zu einer Fläche wie auch zu einer Richtung entwickeln. So habe ich – bevor ich ein Bild zu malen beginne – zwar gewisse Linien im Kopf. Aber erst bei ihrer Umsetzung auf der Leinwand und im Zusammenspiel mit den verwendeten Farben erhalten sie ihre endgültige Aussage."

In the conventional sense, a line is a straight path connecting two points.A line is not just a line for me, on canvas it can represent a surface and develop a direction. Before I commence work on a painting I have certain lines in mind, but only when these lines are applied to canvas in combination with the colours does the final message emerge."

"La ligne est pour moi ŕ l'origine de tout art. En principe, nous entendons par le mot ligne, aus sens traditionnel du terme, un trait droit qui relie deux points.Pour moi, en revanche, une ligne n'est pas juste une ligne. Sur la toile elle évolue et elle peut devenir une surface autant qu'une direction. Ainsi, il y a certaines lignes dans ma tęte que j'évoque avant de commencer un tableau. Mais finalement, ces lignes n'obtiennent leur force d'expression qu'en prenant forme dans l'interprétation sur la toile et dans l'interaction avec les couleurs employées."
